A Case Of Epicondylitis Due To Ciprofloxacin Therapy

The fluoroquinolone antibiotics, with their wide spectrum, exemplary antibacterial effects and generally high tolerance, have been widely used in clinical practice. During treatment with this group of antibiotics, tendinous pathologies are often witnessed. Although problems related to Achilles tendon constitute the majority of antibiotic-induced anomalies, there have also been reported cases of other tendon involvement. Although the exact nature of the mechanisms involved remain unknown, the quinolones have been recognized as causative agents in disorders of tendon fibroblast metabolism.
