Concurrent Development Of Vitiligo And Keloid At The Same Locations In A Case With Hypersensitivity Urticaria: Case Report

Vitiligo and keloid are common disorders, but their concurrent development at the same locations has not been described previously. In this report, we present a case of vitiligo and keloid developing simultaneously at the same skin sites, which had been incised with a sharp razor blade in the past to manage urticaria, according to a traditional belief in South-East Anatolia. Our observations suggest that prolonged inflammatory events occurring during keloid development might have contributed to vitiligo pathogenesis in addition to the Koebner phenomenon in our patient, in whom unnecessary incisions made in suboptimal circumstances resulted in keloid formation.Keywords: Vitiligo, keloid, Koebner, atopic hypersensitivityTurkiye Klinikleri J Med Sci 2004, 24:707-710
