The Determination Of Adult Cancer Cases Among The Patients Admitted To The Education And Investigation Hospital, Faculty Of Medicine, University Of SelÇuk Of The Between 1993 And 1999 Years

In this study; lung cancer (18.2%) was the most frequent cancer in this district. Stomach (9.2%), central nervous system (CNS) (8.8%), blood (8.3%), colon (7.7%), breast (6.3%), lymph (5.2%), urinary bladder (4.5%), skin (3.7%) and pancreas (3.4%) cancers follow this. While lung, stomach, blood, CNS, colon, urinary bladder, larynx, lymph, prostate and pancreas cancers constituted first ten frequent cancers in men; breast, CNS, blood, colon, lung, stomach, ovary, lymph, uterus and skin were the first ten liner for women.
Mean age of our patients were 56.2±15.4 years found to be lower than mean of patients in developed countries. CNS, breast, bone, lymph and testis tumors were seen significantly early; prostate, urinary bladder, skin, larynx and stomach cancers were seen in significantly advanced ages (p<0.05).
Cancer were common in cities than rural region while breast cancer were seen significantly more than other cancers in urban areas; stomach cancers were more in rural areas (p<0.05).Keywords: Neoplasms, Prevalence, ArchivesTurkiye Klinikleri J Med Sci 2002, 22:349-353
