Androgen Supplement Treatment For Preservation Of Spermatogenesisin The Rabbit Testes Affected By Cisplatin And Radiotherapy

Whether deterious effect of radiotherapy and chemotherapy on spermatogenesis of rabbit testes can be preserved by testosterone supplement treatment, study including 24 rabbits has been performed.
Rabbits were divided into six groups; being control group, cisplatin group, radiotherapy group, testosterone group, cisplatin and testosterone group, and radiotherapy and testosterone group.
In the cisplatin group, there was decreased number of preleptojen primer spermatocyte, paciten spermatocyte, step-7 and step-19 when compared with the control group 25.5%, 28.4%, 52.2% and 50.9%, respectively. In the radiotherapy group there was decreased number of type-A spermatogeneum by 36.1%, which is different from the cisplatin group.
The testosteron supplement treatment prevented the unfavourable effects of cisplatin on spermatogenesis, but it had no preventive effect on the radiotherapy group.
