In patients with end stage renal failure, a lot of factors play important roles in the pathogenesis of anemia. The most important of them is the decrease in erythropoietin syntesis. Recombinant human erythropoietin was administered for twelve weeks to twenty of anemic end stage chronic renal failure patients who were in chronic hemodialysis program. The drug was given intravenously three times a week after the completion of each hemodialysis session. We started with a dosage of 50 u/kg per session. rHu EPO dosage adjustment is made reviewing hematologic parameters in every month. In three patients, dosa is increased up to 100 u/kg. At the end of twelve weeks, all the patients had their hematocritis and hemaglobins levels increased to statisticaly significant level (p<0.05).
