Plasma Vitamin C Levels In The Acutely Fluoride-poisoned Guinea-pigs (cavia Porcellus L.)

The investigation was carried out on 50 albino guinea pigs, weighing 280-320 g. The guinea-pigs were divided into two groups of 25, one group was used for treatment and the other for control.
In the experimental group, acute fluoride poisoning was formed by subcutaneous injection of sodium fluoride (250 mg/kg body weight) and the blood samples collected after eight hours from the injection. In the blood samples, obtained from the control and experimental groups, the levels of plasma vitamin C was determined.
It was observed that there was no any significant difference between the values of two groups and the level of plasma vitamin C was not changed by acute fluoride poisoning.
