Treatment Of Achalisa By Balloon Dilatation

Achalasia is a primary oesophageal motor disorder with incomplete relaxation of the lower oesophageal sphincter and the absence of peristalsis in the oesophageal sphincter and the absence of peristalsis in the oesophageal body. Various drugs have been tried at treatment of achalasia for the purpose of reducing lower oesophageal sphincter pressure. However, effective and lasting decrease of the resistance at the cardia can be achieved by either surgery or dilatation. Balloon dilatation is commonly considered to be the initial therapy of choice. Success rates between 86 and 100%, complication rates less than 6% were reported in different series. In the literature, 0-18% of perforation rates were reported. The experiences show that balloon dilatation is effective method for treatment of achalasia.
