Radiological Diagnosis Of Renal Tumors
Uz.Dr.Cemil YAĞCI*, Uz.Dr.Hasan ÖZCAN*
*Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Radyoloji AD, ANKARA
Solid renal tumors are fairly rare. They present only 2% of malignancies in adults. Because of the increased use of abdominal sonography and CT imaging for other indications the number of incidentally diagnosed renal tumors has steadily incerased. Currently, renal tumors are found incidentally in about 0.3% of abdominal CT scans. Although sonography nearly allows distinction between solid and cystic renal lesions, CT imaging is superior in the diagnosis and staging particularly of smaller tumors. In this article, radiological findings of malignant and benign renal tumors are reviewed and current role of radiological modalities in the diagnosis and staging of these disorders are discussed.
