Glutation Metabolism And Clinical Importance

Glutathione is present in all mammalian cells at milimolar concentrations and serves several cellular functions including aminoacid transport, maintenance of protein sulfhydryls reduction status, and as defense against oxidizing molecules and electrophilic xenobiotics. GLutathione is a tripeptit composed of glutamic acid, cystein and glysin, and has oxidized and reduced forms. Glutathione reductase reduces oxidized glutathione.
This paper was written on structure and clinical importance of glutathione.
