Apoptosis, or programmed cell death, is a series of controlled sequential events resulting in the demise of colls without invoking an inflammatory response.
In this article, morphological and biochemical characteristics of apoptosis, its regulation and its role in the control of immune system and importance in AIDS patogenesis were reviewed.
