This study was planned the use of CT to evaluate the efficiency and to examine the effects to therapy, in the preoperative staging of stomach cancers, and we examined 55 patients who underwent operation for stomach cancer. These patients are evaluated according to CT findings such as; the depth of invasion of the primary tumor on the stomach wall, lymph node involvement, TNM staging, peritoneal metastase, distant metastase, ascite and rezectability. The CT findings are compared with the findings of surgery and patalogy, by this was their accuracy rate is found out.
The efficiency of CT in preoperative evaluation is calculated as follows; the transmural invasion depth of the tumor is 73.7%, lymph node involvement 69%, TNM staging is 63% and peritoneal involvement 69%, TNM staging is 63% and peritoneal involvement 98.2%. The accuracy rate for distant metastases and rezectability is 94.5% and 83.6% respectively. It is seen that CT has a higher efficiency in the evaluation of preoperative late phase stomach cancer than early cancers and that the early phase errors are common.
