G proteins are responsible for carrying away the information from receptors to intracellular target enzymes. Hormons, neurotransmitters, growth factors and otocoids need interactions with specific receptors for their biological effects. Recently many plasma membrane receptors which activates G proteins anda re regulatory proteins found in cellular plasma membranes have been described. Each G protein checks one or more membrane effector molecules like adenylate cyclase, ion channels and phospholipase.
Although the importance of G proteins in human malignancies has been determined, these proteins have been described mainly with their strong interactions with cholera and pertussis toxins.
These molecules are important in relations between receptors on cell surface, that is they play role in the regulation of effector molecules which control cell surface and intracellular events.
