Water?s Projection Versus High Resolution Computed Tomography In The Diagnosis Of Chronic Sinusitis

In order to study the diagnostic value of Water? view in chronic maxillary and frontal sinusites a prospective study was done. Preliminary study included 100 cases. All patients with a known or suspected diagnosis of inflammatory sinus disease underwent CT scanning our department. All had been examined using high resolution CT technique prior to examination all results as the basis, the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive and negative predictive values of Waters? view were calculated. The results showed sensitivity 85% with maksiler sinusitis, specificity 74%, positive predictive value 83%, negative predictive value 77%, wheras with frontal sinusitis sensitivity 24%, specificity 97%, positive predictive value 60%, negative predictive value 90%. It is concluded that sufficient data can?t be obtained with Waters? view except maxillary sinusitis.
