The condition appears to be a granulomatous disorder causing edema and inflammation of the tissues of the face, lips, oral cavity and the facial nerve. There is general agreement that the symptoms and signs resolve spontaneously or with medical therapy. However, in some patients the condition may be progressive and may require surgical decompression. Due to its rarity, the syndrome is usually ignored and misdiagnosed. This paper describes a 44-year-old female patient with MRS characterized with recurrent facial paralysis, and the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are discussed. Keywords: Facial paralysis; edema; tongue; fissuredTurkiye Klinikleri J Med Sci 2007, 27:128-131
