Gastric Remnant Necrosis Following Subtotal Gastrectomy: A Case Report

Even though it is rare, gastric remnant necrosis following subtotal gastrectomy may develop due either to devascularization or atherosclerosis. Because of the difficulties in its diagnosis and treatment, the mortality of gastric remnant necrosis is quite high. Our patient who underwent a distal subtotal gastrectomy with the diagnosis of gastric cancer had gastric remnant necrosis, although splenectomy was not performed, possibly due to celiac artery thrombosis.
