Inflammatory Cloacogenic Polyp: A Case Report

A case of rare inflammatory cloacogenic polyp was evaluated with regard to clinical features, operative findings, histopathological findings in the light of the literature.
A polyp, 2 cm in diameter with a genopectoral position was detected during the anorectal examination of a 39-year old male patient with rectal bleeding, pain, palpable mass and weight loss. The polyp was excised and the histopathologic examination revealed an inflammatory cloacogenic polyp.
Inflammatory cloacogenic polyp is a rare lesion of the anorectal region. Its tubulovillous architecture is characteristic. The patient usually presents with rectal bleeding. The etiology is unclear. Although it may be confused with other anorectal lesions, concurrent lesions are frequent.
