C Gmp And Its Clinical Importance: Review

The evaluation of mechanisms of signal transduction pathways is crucial to the understanding of disease etiology and, in turn, the development of novel therapeutic strategies. 3-5-cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), an important secondary messenger, though yet to be explicitly detailed, is thought to be a molecule of significant importance in maintaining homeostasis. Guanylyl cyclases and cGMP-mediated signaling cascades play a central role in the regulation of diverse (patho-) physiological processes, including vascular smooth muscle motility, intestinal fluid and electrolyte homeostasis, as well as retinal photo-transduction.
