BehÇet’s Disease

**Prof.Dr., GATA Dermatoloji AD, ANKARA Behçet’s disease is a chronic, immuno-inflammatory, and multisystemic condition. It is mainly observed in Turkey, other Mediterranean areas, and Japan. Viral, bacterial, genetic, immunologic, and environmental factors have been implicated in the pathogenesis of the disease. It is clinically characterized by recurrent oral and genital ulceration and skin eruptions, inflammatory ocular involvement, and in some cases, by arthritis, vasculitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and neurological manifestations. Treatment is challenging, must be tailored to the pattern of organ involvement, and the severity of disease for each patient, and colchicines, steroids, thalidomide, and immunsuppressive drugs can be used.
