*** Prof.Dr., Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, İbn’i Sina Hastanesi, Ortopedi ve Travmatoloji AD. El Cerrahisi Bölümü, ANKARA Obstetrical brachial plexus palsy (OBPP) is rare complication of pregnancy and delivery. The natural history of the condition remains controversial although it seems undoubted that the majority of patients achieve a satisfactory and useful recovery without surgical intervention. The published data on this condition is complex. In combination with clinical experience must guide the surgeon the indications for surgery in individual cases. The timing of primary nevre surgery and later reconstructive surgery, the initial assessment and aftercare of these cases is complex, and for all the foregoing reasons it seems likely there will continue to be benefit in the concentration of these cases in the few units offering specialized and experienced care teams. This article contains our experience about OBPP and it’s treatment by primary nerve repair. We also reviewed the latest literature about OBPP.Keywords: Brachial Plexus, Obstetric Surgical ProceduresTurkiye Klinikleri J Med Sci 2003, 23:174-179
