Myasthenia gravis is a disorder of neuromuscular transmission characterized by fluctuating weakness and fatigability and attributed to injury of acetylcholine receptors by autoantibodies. Plasmapheresis has a dramatic effect on patients with myasthenia gravis. The number of patients requiring prolonged intubation, tracheotomies, and excessive hospital stays has been minimized because of the sometimes dramatic improvement that can occur with plasmapheresis. In this report, we discuss the care in intensive care unit and immunoadsorption plasmapheresis in treatment of patients with myasthenic crisis.Keywords: Myasthenia Gravis, PlasmapheresisTurkiye Klinikleri J Med Sci 2002, 22:578-582
