Psoriasis And Vitiligo Coexistence Of (4 Cases)

As well as genetic tendency and various triggering factors, immunologic mechanisms have been accepted to play a role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis and vitiligo. Psychologic factors also have an apparent role in inducing and aggrevating the clinical presentation of both diseases. Since both diseases have common pathogenesis, their co-appereance in the same individual is possibly not a coincidence. We would like to draw attention to this subject in terms presenting of four cases in whom both psoriasis and vitiligo were diagnosed and treated in our department during the last year. While lesions of vitiligo preceeded in three of the cases, lesions of both diseases appeared concurrently in one case. The mean age of presentation of vitiligo was 30.8 years and 36.3 years in psoriasis. Psoriatic lesions in all cases were observed in both healthy and depigmented skin.Keywords: Psoriasis, VitiligoTurkiye Klinikleri J Med Sci 2002, 22:574-577
