Cutaneous Ulceration As An Early Manifestation Of Methotrexate Toxicity

Bone marrow suppression, oral and gastrointestinal ulcers, and on long-term application carcinogenesis and development of liver fibrosis are well-known side effects of methotrexate therapy. We describe a case of psoriasis to emphasize a less common and early manifestation of methotrexate toxicity, which is erosions and ulcerations of existing psoriatic plaques.Patients with psoriasis receiving methotrexate therapy should be monitored closely for methotrexate toxicity when erosions and ulcerations appear on psoriatic plaques.Keywords: Psoriasis, Methotrexate, toxicityTurkiye Klinikleri J Med Sci 2002, 22:593-596
