The patients who had been divided into two groups at randomly were applied standard general anesthesia. In the recovery room, after 1.5 mg kg-1 tramadol intravenous was applied as 20 mg tramadol bolus dose and 10 min lockout time in group I, 20 mg bolus dose + 0.1mg droperidol bolus dose and 10 min lockout time in group II. VAS scores, sedation degrees, nausea - vomiting and antiemetic needs were observed during 24 hours. There were no important differantiations in demographic data and VAS scores. Nausea and vomiting was found significantly less in group II. In group II Sedation scores were more found between 0-6 hours. As a result, tramadol and droperidol combination provides a similar quality of analgesia with less nausea and vomiting than tramadol for PCA.Keywords: Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting, Tramadol, DroperidolTurkiye Klinikleri J Med Sci 2002, 22:493-496
