The Value Of Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy In Management Ofbreast Mass

In SSK Ankara Hospital I.Clinic of General Surgery, 52 patients with a complaint of breast mass were taken in the study between 1989-1992. First, all of these patients were completly examined physically and then bilateral mammary ultrasonography and mammography were performed. Fine needle aspiration biopsies were made and fallowing this procedure open excisional biopsies were applied to all these patients. Postoperative pathologic specimens and the fine needle aspiration biopsies were examined again. After these examinations it was concluded that fine needle aspiration biopsies for breast masses is a cheap, safe and quickly resulted method when performed with in a suitable technic and evaluated by an experienced cytologist.
