The plazma MDA levels were measured in 25 patients with AML, 14 AML patients with remissions and 15 healthy donors, to investigate its role in diagnosis and activation of AML. The plasma MDA levels of patients were found to be significantly higher than remision and control group. But we couldn’t find any significant difference between patients with remission and control group. It is accepted that AML patients have minimal residual dieases (MRD) in remission period. Since we couldn’t find any difference between remission and control group, plasma MDA levels couldn’t be used to show MRD.
As a result, elevation of plasma MDA level might show the AML activation, but plasma MDA measurement couldn’t be used to investigate the minimal residual disease.
