The Role Of Exercise And Diet In Hypertension Treatment

The importance of hypertension has been gradually increased in developed and developing countries. The inevitible increase of work stress and obesity, unbalanced nutrition and sedentary life style help hypertension increase. In near future not only in developed countries but also in our country it seems to increase the incidence of cardiovascular disease, NIDDM, hypertension, and some forms of cancer (colon, prostate and breast) which are strongly releated to sedentary life style, obesity, and stress. Regular aerobic physical activity increases exercise capacity and plays a role both primary and secondary prevention of hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Both, regular exercise and dietary regimen (increased soluble fiber, fruit, vegetable, and complex carbonhydrate intake as well as decreased saturated fatty acids and calories) regulate cardiovascular risk factors such as high blood pressure, blood cholesterol, HDL-C, LDL-C, and triglyceride. So the most effective and the cheapest way of rescue from the hypertension is regular aerobic exercise and carefully designed dietary regimen. It should be kept on mind that those who think they have not time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness.
