The Measurements Of The Lower Extremity Within Fetal Period

Prenatal analysis of the fetal structures gives us information about fetal growth and gestational age. The aim of this study was to investigate of the morphologic structure of the lower extremity of fetuses in the fetal period, to measure the morphometric values. In this study 53 human fetuses (males 33, females 20) aged between 10-40 PMW (post menstruel week) were studied. In the lower extremity, the width of the crista iliaca, and knee-condyl, and the length of thigh, cruris and foot were determined. Significant correlation was found between all parameters taken within the fetal period and gestational age. This significant relation found between parameters may be useful in anatomy, forensic medicine, fetopathology, medical imagine, obstetric and pediatrics.
