This cross-sectional study of 318 diabetics (21 insulin dependent, 297 non-insulin dependent) showed significantly higher incidence of trigger finger (6 patients, 1.8%), carpal tunnel syndrome (43 patients, 13.5%), Dupuytren’s contracture (58 patients, 18.2%), limited joint mobility (79 patients, 24.8%), and shoulder adhesive capsulitis (88 patients, 27.6%) in the diabetic population. 238 patients had a minimum of 12 months of follow-up. In conclusion the prevalence of hand pathologies in diabetic patients is high and increases with the duration of diabetes and age of the patient.
