*Yrd.Doç.Dr.,Diyarbakır Devlet Hastanesi İç Hastalıkları Kliniği, DİYARBAKIR 65 years old woman was investigated for ascites.
Laboratory evaluation due to increase in transaminases revealed anti- HCV and HCV-RNA positivity. Serum-ascites albumin gradient was >1.1 g/dl. Although this finding was compatible with ascites due to portal hypertension, other findings of portal hypertension were absent. And also ascitic fluid cell count (900 mm³) and lymphocyte ratio (85%) were unusual for portal hypertensive ascites. Being frequent in the region, tuberculous peritonitis in the presence of chronic liver disease was suspected. Percutaneous peritoneal biopsy demonstrated caseifying granulomas.
