In this study, histopathologic features of 450 basal cell carcinoma are reviewed. In the present study, we researched the histologic subtypes of basal cell carcinomas, incidence of positive tumor margins, lymphocytic infiltrate and tumor ulceration. Six major histologic patterns vere identified: nodular, 210 cases (45.6%); mixed, 93 cases (20.2%); infiltrative, 62 cases (13.5%); superficial, 45 cases (9.8%); micronodular, 43 cases (9.4%); morpheiphorm, 47 cases (1.5%). The infiltrative type have a higher ıncidence of positive tumor margin and tumor ulceration (71.4%, 53.2% respectively) whereas the superficial type had a higher incidence of lymphocytic infiltrate (83.4%).Keywords: Basal cell carcinoma, histopathologic subtypeTurkiye Klinikleri J Med Sci 1999, 19:249-254
