*** Prof.Dr., Dicle Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Patoloji AD, DİYARBAKIR In this study, we examined 40 cases diagnosed as prostatic adenocarcinoma and investigated immunohistochemically the relationship between the mutant p53 with prostate-specific antigen (PSA), Gleason score and stage. Of 40 cases p53 was observed to be positive in 6 (15 %); p53 was negative in all of 11 cases whose Gleason score was 2-4, while p53 was observed to be positive in 2 of 17 (11.7%) cases with Gleason score 5-7 and in 4 of 12 (33 %) cases with Gleason score 8-10. PSA results were found in 22 of 40 cases. As to the relationship between PSA and p53 in 22 cases, p53 was observed to be negative in all of 5 cases, whose PSA was 0-4 ng/ml, while it was positive in 2 of 6 (33.3%) cases with PSA 4-10 ng/ml and in 4 of 11 (36.3%) cases whose PSA was above 10ng/ml. p53 was also determined to be positive in 2 of 7 (28.5%) cases in localized stage (stage A,B,C) and in 4 of 15 (26.6%) cases in metastatic stage (stage D). As a result, the relationship between the p53 positivity and tumor differentiation degree was meaningful (p<0.05). There was a meaningful difference between well and low differentiated tumors in view of p53 positivity (p< 0.05). The relationship between tumor immunoreactivity and PSA, stage was not significant (p>0.05).Keywords: Prostate, adenocarcinoma, p53,
