The patients were divided into two equal groups randomly and each group included 13 patients. One group was given 5 mg finasterid and the other had 4 mg doxazosin per a day.
After 12 weeks’ therapy, each group's initial and control average values were compared. As a result of this study, it was seen that each group's symptom scores decreased. Also each group patients’ maximal urinary flow rates increased.
It was observed that finasterid administrated patients's PSA values, prostate volumes and maximal detrussor pressures by urodynamic measures decreased.
As a result, because of their effects on decreasing the symptoms and increasing urinary flow, both drug can be safe alternatives to the surgical treatment in patients who don’t accept or is in high risk for surgery. Keywords: Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH),
