In our study, the most often observed adverse effect was fever (95%; 84/88). The mean body temperature was 40° ± 1.04°C for the first day of treatment and 38.2° ± 2.03°C, 37.1° ± 1.7°C, 36.7° ± 1.5°C during treatment period for the following three days respectively. For the rest of days, during the treatment period, the mean body temperature was in normal ranges.
The second adverse effect was weight loss (90%; 80/88). Mean weight loss was 5.5 ± 2.04 kg during the treatment period. The third was headache (78%; 70/88) lasting 2 ± 1.3 days.

Impotence was observed in 58 per cent (38/66) male patients.
The treatment was stopped in two patients in the forth and fifth months of the treatment because of their suicidal ideas. One patient was treated with an antidepressant drug for developing depression. Antihypothyroid drugs were begun for two patients because of hypothyroidism. Additionally, anti-infective therapy was given to 1 (1%) patient for pneumonia, to 1 (1%) patient for bronchitis and to 1 (1%) patient for urinary tract infection.
