** Dr., Edirne Devlet Hastanesi, EDİRNE Allergic disorders are very common throughout the world. These disorders are very important for public health because of their high frequency and of their preventable characteristics. Environmental factors such as foods, paints, detergants, pestisides, clothes, pollens, cosmetic materials, sun and occupational materials play a very important role in the etiology of these diseases. Avoiding from such environmental factors is a radical way of prevention. But in some conditions this is not possible. Hyposensitization is effective in both the treatment and prevention of these conditions. Allergic diseases theoretically are considered to be preventable in 100% of conditions. In the present study, we rewieved this important public health problem which has not been studied sufficiently before. Keywords: Allergy, Public healthTurkiye Klinikleri J Med Sci 2001, 21:216-222
