**** Prof.Dr., Selçuk Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Histoloji Embriyoloji AD, KONYA Object: This study has been done in University of Selcuk Medical Faculty Department of Histology Embryology. Our purpose is to evaluate male gonad development during fetal period.
Materials and Methods: 26 male fetus gonad, which was obtained from University of Selcuk Medical Faculty Department of Anatomy by spontan abortus were fixed, processed, embedded in paraffin blocks and cut 5 mm thickness. Preparations were stained with Hematoxylin-Eosin and examined in light microscopy at different magnifications.
Result: Investigation on male gonads exposes that seminiferous tubules have different in size and shapes in early stages of development, but afterwards they have same structural properties. Number of spermatogonia and Sertoli cells in these seminiferous tubules is increases progressively. Number of Leydig cells, however, increase to 19th week, but decreases afterwards. Lumen of seminiferous tubules was not detected before 10th week. Interstitial tissue or extracordal region, has progressively got more regular and an organize structure.
Conclusion: These data reveals that the intraembryonic development of gonads is very complex and at the same time goes on in a systematic process. Keywords: Gonadal development, Embryology,
